Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Genesis Group of Companies uses personal information when you enquire about flooring, blinds, print or window work. It follows UK GDPR.
Who we are
Genesis Group of Companies is a Yorkshire-based group covering Genesis Carpets & Flooring, Genesis Blinds, Genesis Print and Genesis Windows. For privacy matters we are the data controller for the information you send us.

What we collect
Enquiries come by phone, WhatsApp or email. Depending on how you get in touch, we may hold:
- Your name, if you give it
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The content of your message, including rooms, flooring, blinds, print jobs or windows you want quoted
- Any follow-up messages needed to quote or arrange the work
We do not collect payment card details through this website. We do not run account logins.
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- Reply to your enquiry
- Provide a quote and, if you go ahead, arrange the work
- Keep a record of the job while it is live and for a reasonable period afterwards
The legal bases under UK GDPR are:
- Steps taken at your request before entering a contract, and performance of a contract if you instruct us
- Our legitimate interests in running the group companies and answering people who contact us
We do not use your information for automated decision-making.
Cookies and this website
This site is a brochure website. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser may store ordinary technical data such as a session needed to load the page. If we add optional analytics later, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We only share it where we need to, for example:
- With the phone, WhatsApp and email services we use to receive and reply to messages
- With our website host, so the site can be served
- With professional advisers or insurers if a job requires it
- With the police, HMRC or the Information Commissioner's Office if the law requires it
WhatsApp is provided by Meta. If you message us there, Meta's own terms and privacy notice also apply to that conversation.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry messages for as long as we need them to handle the request and any work that follows. If a job goes ahead we may keep job records for up to six years, which is in line with ordinary UK limitation periods for contracts. We then delete or anonymise the information unless the law asks us to keep it longer.
Where it is stored
We are based in the United Kingdom. Some tools we use (including WhatsApp and some email or hosting services) may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent clauses.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- See the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete information, in certain cases
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Receive a copy of information you provided, in a portable format

Children
Our services are for adult customers arranging flooring, blinds, print or window work. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
